The RCU allows employees to clock in and out, clock to lunch (or breaks), change their current activity and review the hours they have worked (with start and finish times) on any previous week or day.
For organisations running a Flexitime system, the RCU gives employees the further ability to check their flexi balance at any point in time. This completely eliminates the need for timesheets and cuts down the burden on HR and / or Line Managers to provide information relating to employee flexi balances.
In addition to the above, the RCU allows employees to view their own personal attendance calendar. Whilst viewing their calendar, they can also check how many days holiday they have remaining, and even send a holiday request to their line manager.
The RCU uses TCP/IP to communicate with the CaptureIT Server. It does not require access to the database files and, as a result, uses very little network resources.
Employees working remotely, but with a network connection, can use the RCU as if they were in their office, meaning that home based workers can be integrated into the company's overall attendance system.
Whilst the RCU is normally dedicated to individual employees, it can be configured such that several employees use its facilities on a single PC. This is useful where staff do not have their own PC's, but there is a departmental PC available. By giving each employee their own password this PC could be shared. A good example of this is a CaptureIT customer with many retail outlets, where staff use a central PC at each outlet to clock in / out.
