Recording and Monitoring the Attendance of Remote Workers
Clocking In Remotely
With businesses today moving towards a more remote workforce, be it small remote sites or home working, it is essential that this is able to be incorporated into a Time and Attendance system. CaptureIT is able to provide a solution for these remote workers.
In the case of remote sites, the traditional approach would be to install a terminal in each location on which staff register. This is still an approach many of our clients take and there are a number of options available regarding the transfer of data back to your main site.
There is, however, another alternative called the Remote Clocking Utility (RCU). The RCU is a Windows based program that allows any number of employees to clock in and out using a computer instead of a terminal. All your usual rules and parameters around a working day will be applied as normal, so there is no difference in terms of data between clockings made on a terminal or those made on the RCU. If your remote workers have their own computer (or easy access to one) then this is often the preferred option from both a cost and ease of implementation point of view.
The RCU allows employees to clock in and out, clock to lunch (or breaks) and change their current activity from their computer. Employees are also able to review the hours they have worked (with start and finish times) on any previous week or day and can also allow employees to see which other employees are clocked in.
For employees that are home-based, occasionally work from home or are based out on the road, the principal is identical. The RCU will allow staff to accurately record hours in exactly the same way. All you would need in addition to the RCU software is a means of connecting back to your network.
The RCU uses TCP/IP to communicate with the CaptureIT Server and does not require access to the database files. As a result, it uses very little network resources and makes it an incredibly effective solution.
