Technical Information for the IT Department

CaptureIT has a number of different options in terms of connectivity. The easiest way to route data from a terminal back to the CaptureIT server is via Ethernet over a LAN / WAN. This is the recommended solution and makes it very straightforward for the terminals to send clocking data to, and also for administrators to access data on the CaptureIT database. As an alternative, CaptureIT can also be connected to the terminals via dedicated 'CapNet' cabling if required.

If you have sites that are not part of your LAN / WAN, then we are able to provide other solutions (such as modem terminals) in order for the CaptureIT server to retrieve data.

In terms of server specification, the power requirement of CaptureIT is modest and is within the limits of any modern server. The minimum spec is a 1Ghz Processor with 1GB RAM, 2GB free hard disk space and Windows Server 2003 / 2008. CaptureIT runs on a Pervasive SQL database and it is usual for the server to hold the database and host the CaptureIT Server program. Client machines should be Windows XP or above ('Home' Operating Systems are not supported).

CaptureIT is completely compatible with remote desktop technologies such as Microsoft Terminal Services or Citrix.
