Does you Student Attendance Monitoring System comply with UKBA regulations?
We work closely with the major accreditation bodies to ensure that our system meets the requirements of the UKBA in relation to recording student attendance and reporting non-attendance. We are continually developing our system to keep up with new regulations. Many Colleges have purchased cheaper systems only to be told by Inspectors that they do not comply and unfortunately have their licence suspended. We have spoken to UKBA Inspectors whilst on site with our customers and they have been satisfied that our system is compliant.

How soon can you install your system on our premises?
As soon as you sign and fax back your order form we put the wheels in motion. This includes arranging suitable days in both of our diaries for Scoping, Installation and Training. Once these have been agreed the process begins and we expect to deliver your complete working system within 6 weeks. This depends very much on your requirements and more complex installations could take longer.
Are there any human rights issues with Biometrics?
It is important to note that there are no ‘human rights’ issues in respect of employee ‘fingerprints’. This is because there is no image of the fingerprint either read or stored. Instead, the reader measures the changes in electrical conductivity at a number of places across the reader surface and translates these into a unique number. It is this unique number, alone, that is stored in the database. It is not possible to ‘reverse engineer’ the number into any form of finger pattern or fingerprint.
What is better, proximity or biometrics?
There isn’t really a better or worse solution. Both are equally valid depending on your environment and budget. Proximity is a better choice in dirty or dusty environments as the terminals are completely sealed. The terminals are also cheaper but you then have to buy cards or fobs for each employee. Biometric is completely foolproof in terms of employee identity. The terminals are more expensive but the fact you need no additional media for your employees does offset this.
Can we install the software ourselves?
CaptureIT is not designed to be installed by the customer. We differentiate ourselves by properly scoping out the installation, installing and configuring the software, and then training your employees. This approach leads to a much better installation and leaves you with the best possible system.
Can we install the hardware ourselves?
We are flexible with regards installation of clocking terminals and a number of our customers have installed these themselves. We would always spend a day onsite first showing your employees how to do this. Access control is a more involved and specialist installation process and as a result we would not expect the customer to carry this out.
Can access control be used for clocking in/out?
CaptureIT’s access control readers are used for entrance/exit only. They work independently to the clocking terminals so that if the CaptureIT server is unavailable, the access control will still work. In practice, clocking at the same time as access control doesn’t work well. This is due to the fact that employees will often open a door and then hold it open for colleagues, meaning they wouldn’t necessarily be clocked in.
