Configurable Workflow
 
If you have a logical business process (documented or otherwise) that involves your employees and that follows a set of rules or procedures, then HR.net can be configured to computerise that process to save time and improve operational efficiency and control. Customers from financial institutions to solicitors to manufacturers to charities have all benefited from computerising both common and complex business processes for great benefit.
 
The generic name for a sequence of processes is ‘workflow’. It is HR.net’s configurable workflow engine that allows you to automate processes. For example, in HR terms the workflow could be the actions surrounding a ‘return to work’ interview or informing IT and payroll of a new starter. In other areas it could be the following of a pre-defined ‘quality procedure’ to ensure full compliance or perhaps the authorisation of a purchase order request.
 
The majority of processes will involve one or more forms, e.g. back to work form, purchase request form, appraisal form, submission of expenses. These forms are built into the workflow process to keep the whole experience familiar and intuitive.
 
Some processes do not start with entry onto a form, but an ‘event in time’. For example, a critical date has been reached or an event has occurred that should trigger a business process. Examples could include a reminder about a vehicle lease, the end of probation period, that an employee should renew a skill, or sending a set of management reports to selected managers (automatically). All workflows can send automatic emails to keep all involved fully informed and/or prompted.
